Rules- Wedding: Challenge accepted

We have planned and are aiming at keeping the budget at $2,000 out of pocket. Really, who wants to start a new life together in debt? In order to track our progress and keep ourselves honest, we need to list down some rules for this. Or Guidelines.  Whichever fits best.

The budget total only counts what we pay out of pocket.

Anything that we have on hand prior to engagement, or gift cards obtained as gifts via holidays or birthdays do not count in to the budget.

For example, say I get a twenty dollar card to Hobby Lobby.  Those twenty dollars I may use for wedding supplies, but it does not count in the $2,000 budget final numbers.

This means once the grand totals are added up, I will go back and deduct what was purchased with a gift card.  The reason I am doing this is so that while creating projects and posting them I can list down the cost of everything, put in parenthesis what was already on hand, discounted, couponed, or gift carded, so that if you are using this as a resource you may have a better idea on what and how to budget and plan for your projects. (Wow, longest sentence ever)

Repairs count. This meaning that if my sewing machine needs maintainence, the cost of that would be included in to the budget if I still need to use it.  If.  If the machine's purpose is already done and complete, doesn't count.

....Um... I'm not sure what else.  Any ideas, questions, or suggestions would be welcomed and appreciated.  This can always be edited and added to later.

Thanks!
